Day 12 – Monday 24th May 2010

Ben and I are feeling a little fragile today so we decide to do something a little extravagant and order room service for breakfast. There’s probably not a lot of need to take a photo of our breakfast but because it’s my first room service treat ever and it’s in the MGM, why the heck not.

After breaky we bask in the sunshine, prowl by the pool for ladies, well the single guys do anyway, then contemplate what we’re going to do the rest of the day and night. We decide to head out on to the strip as we’ve only really seen it at night time, hammered.

Nighttime arrives meaning that Tuesday morning (Kev’s birthday) is not far off so we celebrate with more expensive food and drink. Like some of you I’m sure, I’ve always been curious to know how good an expensive bottle of wine actually tastes. It so happens that on Monday of all days the seafood restaurant we dine in within the MGM complex offers 50% off all wines over $100. We decide to take this offer and buy the cheapest expensive bottle of wine, a bottle for $104. Split several ways it proved not that expensive after all.

For those of you wondering what a $100 pound bottle of wine tastes like, don’t worry, you ain’t missing much! Give me a Jacobs Creek any day of the week.

We sink a couple more ales, have a quick flutter on the floor and then head back to the strip to observe for the last time the wondrous nighttime sight that is Las Vegas and to hopefully get a glimpse of the water fountain of The Bellagio (Ocean’s 11).

Here then are a few pictures of Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas and a couple of The Bellagio.

Later that night two of the boys, the birthday boy included, get friendly with a couple of Californian girls. Fast forward several hours and the four of them them are having a late night jakuzi chill-out back in their room! However Danny boy doesn’t leave it there, he heads back out to town on his own. It transpires that he ends up in a Spearmint Rhino, blew loads of cash on dancers, fell asleep on the sofa’s for a little while eventually making it back to his room for 9am. Priceless.
